2021 AVPN- Impact Investing Fellowship

Amrut Joshi was part of an intense, immersive 6 month learning journey in the field of impact investing. During the 6 months journey, he learnt about “theory of change”, “wicked problems” and “impact measurement” with the aid of so many carefully crafted case studies, and then discussed the same with many world-class faculty, led by the irrepressible Prof. Gayle Peterson, and several other Fellows from various parts of Asia.

The Fellowship comprised of the following 3 modules i.e.

(1) Module 1: Introduction to Sustainable Finance and Impact Investing

  • Explored how private capital can be mobilised at scale to solve important social and environmental challenges
  • Understanding the spectrum of sustainable finance approaches including Environmental – Social and Governance [ESG] Investing, Socially Responsible Investment, Impact investing, Corporate Social Responsibility, Inclusive Business, etc.

(2) Module 2: Developing an Impact Journey and Impact Management Framework

  • Learning how to design and implement an impact strategy and portfolio, leveraging Theory of Change models and other relevant concepts
  • Understanding the universe of impact standards and establish a common language around impact goals and performance

(3) Module 3: Innovative Finance and the Role of Next-Gen Wealth

  • Understanding the key decision points in developing an impact investing strategy as a family office
  • Gaining insight into social finance tools including catalytic philanthropy, public-private partnerships, social and development impact bonds and systems change models
