Supreme Court holds that for specific performance of a contract, plaintiff has to prove his readiness and willingness to perform his part of contract throughout.

The Supreme Court (“SC”), in the case of Vijay Kumar vs. Om Prakash passed October 3rd, 2018 has held that, in order to obtain a decree for specific performance, the plaintiff has to prove his/her readiness and willingness to perform his/her part of the contract throughout and has to be established by the plaintiff.

Supreme Court directs the Reserve Bank of India to inform its plan of lowering the floating rates for loans to the advantage of consumers.

The Supreme Court (“SC”), on a petition filed before it has directed the Reserve Bank of India (“RBI”) to inform about the RBI’s plan of lowering the floating rates for loans for the advantage of consumers. While the rates on floating rate loans are increased immediately when the rate of interest rates rise, the lowering of rates does not happen as immediately and at times it is not lowered for long durations.

Bombay High Court issues Notice to the Central Government over a Public Interest Litigation seeking regulation of web content.

In a Public Interest Litigation (“PIL”) filed before the Bombay High Court, the petitioner has sought regulation of content that is broadcast directly on the internet. Following this, the Bombay High Court has issued Notices to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Home Affairs to file their reply to the said Notices.
