Panel Discussion at the AVPN India Summit 2018

December 06, 2018

Amrut Joshi participated in a Panel Discussion at the AVPN (Asian Venture Philanthropy Network) India Summit 2018 . The topic for the Panel Discussion was “Human and Intellectual Capital, and the Organizational Advantage”. Amrut spoke about the unique role that law and lawyers can play in aiding the growth of social enterprises in India by deploying a wide array of tools available (including corporate structures, a favorable tax regime for impact investments and social enterprises, documentation of partnerships etc.)

There was also an animated debate on whether the Corporatization of the Social Sector was a good thing? The consensus that emerged from the discussions was that both sectors have plenty of learnings to offer to the other, and that neither sectors could operate in silos!

The Panel was moderated by Mr. Ravi Sreedharan (Founder and Director of Indian School of Development Management).  The other panelists were Ms. Vijaya Balaji (CEO and Managing Director , Toolbox India Foundation), Ms. Meenakshi Batra (CEO, Charities Aid Foundation India) and and Ms. Jashodhara Dasgupta (Executive Director, National Foundation of India).
