Supreme Court orders assessment of “Live Transcription” technology for recording evidence
In a major development, the Supreme Court (“SC”) has ordered that an assessment of “Live Transcription” technology be done for recording of evidence. For the purpose of this assessment, a demonstration will be done in front of the Attorney General who will then submit a report to the SC on the same.
Supreme Court holds that Specific Performance with respect to Developer Agreements can be availed by the Developer
The Supreme Court has held that Section 14(3)(c) of the Specific Relief Act, 1963 (“Act”) will not be a bar to a suit for specific performance of a development agreement between the developer and owner of property. The remedy for specific relief can be availed by both the owner and developer of the property.
President of India approves new Telangana law to include online rummy within the ambit of dangerous games.
A new law, the Telangana Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Dacoits, Drug-Offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Land-Grabbers (Amendment) Bill, 2017( Prevention of Dangerous Activities Amendment Bill) passed by the Telangana government placing online rummy games, among other things, under the ambit of dangerous activities like dacoity, drug peddling and kidnapping has received the assent of the President. The amendment bill will now have draconian provisions to detain any person who has committed an offence under the Telangana Gaming Act, 1974 if it is required for maintenance of public order for a period of up to twelve months without bail or trial.
