Summary of the December 31, 2021 MHA Notification

Time periods to take note of

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has extended the validity of a registration obtained under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 till:

  • March 31, 2022; or
  •  Till the date of disposal of the renewal application, whichever is earlier

Who can avail of this extension? 

The extension of the validity of FCRA Registration is applicable to only those entities:

  • whose registration is expiring during the period September 29, 2020 – March 31, 2022; and
  • who have applied for renewal on the FCRA portal in
    accordance with Rule 12 of the Foreign Contribution
    (Regulation) Rules, 2011.

Refusal of Application & Consequences

In the event of refusal of application for renewal, the validity of the FCRA certificate shall be deemed to have expired on the date of refusal.
